Recently, Blue Plus Health, a one-stop, full-lifecycle health and wellness service provider under AIX Inc. (Nasdaq:AIFU), a leading AI-technology-driven independent financial services provider in China, joined forces with YD Care, a professional care brand under New Frontier Group, to officially launch the “Care Without Worry Action Plan.” This initiative not only marks a new stage in the strategic collaboration between these two leading industry players but also aims to call on all industry practitioners to actively address the growing demand for health and wellness services amidst China's accelerating trends of aging, low birth rates, and declining marriage rates.

About the Partners

New Frontier Group was co-founded by Mr. Antony Leung, former Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, and Mr. Carl Wu, a former senior executive at Blackstone Group. YD Care, a member of New Frontier Healthcare, integrates advanced U.S. care concepts, training systems, and service processes. As a one-stop medical care chain institution, it provides high-quality medical and eldercare services to patients transitioning between hospital and home, as well as community-based elderly residents.

According to the 2023 National Aging Affairs Development Bulletin released in October 2024 by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Office on Aging, as of the end of 2023, China’s elderly population aged 60 and above reached 296.97 million, including 216.76 million aged 65 and above. The dependency ratio for the population aged 65 and above has risen for the tenth consecutive year, reaching 22.5% in 2023, up from 21.8% in 2022. This means that every 100 working-age individuals must support an increasing number of elderly people.

Meanwhile, the number of newborns in China continues to decline, with 9.02 million births recorded in 2023, down by 540,000 compared to 2022. This trend presents unprecedented challenges to traditional family-based eldercare models, particularly for one-child families, which are facing mounting pressures in balancing personal lives and elderly care responsibilities. The demand for professional, sustainable long-term care services has become urgent, not just for seniors but for alleviating caregiving stress across all age groups.

In response to the challenges posed by the aging population, China has actively promoted long-term care insurance (LTCI) pilot programs in recent years, aiming to alleviate the caregiving burden on families through an insurance mechanism. By the end of 2023, 49 cities across the country had launched LTCI pilot programs, with a total of 183.31 million participants. However, there is a significant shortage of professional long-term care services to match the number of insured individuals, creating a huge gap in resource allocation. Even when caregiving responsibilities are entrusted to medical and care institutions, the high costs prevent many families from accessing these services, forcing core family members to shoulder the caregiving duties. This not only severely impacts the quality of life for individuals and families but also exacerbates the caregiving crisis.

Against this backdrop, Blue Plus Health, leveraging the innovative insurance solutions of its parent company AIX Inc., has formed a strategic partnership with YD Care, one of the largest service providers in the government LTCI system and a leader in the caregiving industry. In April 2023, Blue Plus Health launched the “Medical and Care Companion Card 1.0”, combining YD Care’s vast service network, which spans 32 cities and over 250 caregiving stations nationwide. This product allows users to pre-purchase care services at an affordable rate. With just a few simple steps, users can easily access professional, reliable, and cost-effective care services when needed.

Since its debut, the "Medical and Care Companion Card" has been upgraded twice, continuously optimizing its service content and quality. To date, the product has benefited 80,000 users across more than 30 provinces and cities in China, providing services to a total of 5,000 patients, especially in second- and third-tier cities.

In May 2024, the "Medical and Care Companion Card" was selected as the only care service product featured in the"Ma'anshan Senior-Friendly Insurance Service Manual", jointly published by the Ma'anshan branch of the National Financial Supervision and Administration and the Ma'anshan Insurance Association. Through the joint efforts of Blue Plus Health and YD Care, the "Medical and Care Companion Card" has become a household name, celebrated for its low access threshold, broad coverage, high-quality services, and affordability. Recognized by both the market and professional government institutions, it has emerged as a "phenomenal" product in the healthcare and eldercare sector.

This year, the two partners further deepened their strategic collaboration by launching the "Medical and Care Companion Card 3.0" and initiating the "Care Without Worry Action Plan". Leveraging Blue Plus Health's innovative capabilities and YD Care's professional fulfillment and delivery expertise, the initiative calls on industry professionals to embrace the "Medical and Care Companion Card 3.0" and collectively shoulder their responsibilities to the sector.

Remaining true to their mission, the collaboration aims to alleviate current and future caregiving challenges, offering a sustainable solution to the long-term care needs. The goal is to ensure that more families can access professional, high-quality, and affordable caregiving services, addressing pressing societal needs and enhancing the quality of life for all.
